The Earth Harmony Foundation is holding the vision for a children's nature park to be created in memory of Songwriter/Singer/Environmental Leader John Denver. As John was a global voice for the forests and all wildlife through his songs, John was also the ambassador from the United States to the 1992 Earth Summit. His contribution towards a better world was immense and this park is dedicated to inspiring children and adults to align their lives to live in harmony with nature. This parkland, to be called 'The John Denver Sunshine Eco-Park' is to be presented by the Earth Harmony Foundation to the L.A. County and City Officials as a possible direction to take in the ongoing discussion over the future of Sunshine Canyon near the Santa Clarita Woodlands in Southern California. The Sunshine Canyon has been the landfill site for much of L.A.'s trash for over 40 years. Up until now there has not been much choice but to dump and bury the trash, however presently technology exists to excavate landfills, recycle, transform and reuse these materials as well as convert the existing trash stream into useful source material for many manufacturing efforts and as well as for compost in gardening.
The potential exist to return these hills and valleys, which were sacred to the Natives Americans who lived there for thousands of years back into their original pristine condition, which included a beautiful river and thousands of spacious oak trees and wildlife. The Earth Harmony Foundation is holding the vision of John Denver through this project; that during the next millennium, the forests needn't be scarred by human interference, and as we respect nature, we better respect ourselves and our future. You're comments are welcome.
